Some kind of bird ballet.....

All photos were taken at the Ellie Schiller Homosassa Wildlife State Park, which you can find here.  I will have more to share about this place. It was a lot of fun to see all these beautiful birds, many of them who are wild and fly in just for feeding time.  I have tried to identify the birds but please correct me if I am wrong.

One of our stars is the Great White Heron, along with her chorus, the White Ibis'.

Jumping into the arms of her prince, again, a White Ibis.

Wood Stork, definitely a diva!

Two photos of the Anhinga, the same bird above and below displaying her perfect form.

Waiting in the wings, a Barred Owl.

A lovely ballet pose displayed by the Wood Stork.

A Mute Swan stretching her toes and getting ready to jump in.

Our White Ibis posing for the cameras back stage, deciding to give the paparazzi her back view.

The Brown Pelican is a little late for her cue.

Red-shouldered Hawk very vocal.  Well, you sometimes get a heckler in the audience.

The Crested Caracas was wearing a beautiful costume.

I am stretching here but I think this may be a Black-crowned Night Heron, who decided to fly over the stage.  She needed no wires.

White Pelicans about to make their entrance.

Mute and Black Swan now glad the performance is over and taking a well deserved rest.

Amazing photos, Denise! The wood stork's feathers are certainly unusual. They seem awfully fluffy.

Absolutely flippin' MARVELLOUS. I loved this post, Denise. At first I raved about the picture No.1. but then I moved on to the others, each and every one being a fabulous shot with a perfect caption.

Aren't you lucky that you have seen all these birds. WOW!!!! Excellent photography. That heron in the first picture -- how tall it has stretched its neck!! Great. I loved best the picture where one of the bird is flying through the air like those bombers, ready to swoop down soon.

Nice! I know you're right on most of your IDS and probably right on the two I'm not sure of (the mute swan and the owl...I am not good on those). That is a really fun place isn't it?

Denise,

These are wonderful photos of birds. Some I have never seen before. I can't forget how spectacular the Anhinga is from when we visited Florida.

Beautiful photographs and thanks so much for sharing them with us.
The bird in pics 4 and 5 reminds me very much of the water bird we call a cormorant (or shag). I wonder if they are related.
Lovely to see the white and black swans together. We have so many black swans here and of course our Swan River was named for the black swan seen there by our early explorers.
